Map builder
Draw a map, check it, download the file and play it. What you see is what the game builds: the same water, cliffs and bridges, worked out by the game’s own rules, and drawn the way the game shows it, north up with west (+x) on the left.
Selection
Checks
These are the game’s own checks. The game makes the final one when you click the map’s card in Skirmish or Host game.

Bridges
A bridge stands across the map’s middle line, wherever the river is there. The green stretches on the map are where one lands on dry ground.
Rules (mods)
Multipliers from 0.25 to 4, the same for every player and the AI; 1 changes nothing. A rule left at 1 stays out of the file.

How to play your map
- Download the
.petalmapfile. - Put it in your maps folder. In the game, Skirmish or Multiplayer → Host game, scroll the map list to Custom maps and press Open folder; or find it yourself:
Where your maps folder is Game Maps folder Mac, from the disk image ~/Library/Application Support/Epic/Petalwar/Saved/MapsMac, a team zip build ~/Library/Containers/com.petalwar.game/Data/Library/Application Support/Epic/Petalwar/Saved/MapsWindows %LOCALAPPDATA%\Petalwar\Saved\Maps - Press Rescan, then click its card. The game makes its final check there and turns the card red with the reason if the map does not play.
- Host a match on it: everyone who joins gets the map from your game automatically.
Custom maps are not rated. A map that uses the newer rules (unit health, damage, speed and range, structure cost, build time and health) needs Petalwar 0.5.30 or newer. Every field and limit is in the custom maps guide.
